An LG signage display mounted on a concrete wall in a double-height lobby, playing a six-zone layout of images and charts with no player box behind it.

LIVE FOR LG WEBOS

Runs on the LG panel, with nothing behind it

Live for webOS runs on the LG display itself. No player box, no bracket, no second power socket. One important catch: it has to be an LG Signage-series panel.

Live for LG webOS, in plain terms.

Live for webOS runs natively on LG webOS Signage displays, using the system-on-chip built into the panel. The display is the player, so there is no external box to buy, mount, power or replace, and it connects straight to the Live CMS, cloud-hosted or self-hosted.

The catch is worth reading before you order. LG sells three different webOS monitor families, Commercial, Hospitality and Signage, and they do not share the same underlying APIs. Only the Signage series running webOS 3.0 or newer works with Live for webOS. A webOS TV from the Hospitality range is not the same product, even though the name on the box looks similar.

Support runs from webOS 3.0 through to 6.0, with webOS 4.0 and 4.1 supported since player release R14 and webOS 6.0 since R208. Because LG ships a very large number of model codes across those versions, we publish the tested-model list per webOS version rather than asking you to work it out from a spec sheet.

PLAYER SPEC

Runs on
LG webOS Signage-series displays only, running webOS 3.0 through 6.0. Commercial and Hospitality series are not compatible.
Extra hardware
None. The webOS SoC in the display is the player, so there is no external box to mount or power.
Version support
webOS 3.0 and 3.2, webOS 4.0 and 4.1 since player release R14, and webOS 6.0 since R208.
Connects to
Live CMS over HTTP or HTTPS, on TCP/80, TCP/443 and TCP/9505.
Video wall
Not supported. Video wall output runs on the Windows and BrightSign players.

WHAT IT DOES

What the LG webOS player actually gives you.

The same Live CMS drives every platform. This is the part specific to this one.

No player box

The webOS chip in the panel runs the player, so the screen needs power and a network connection and nothing else.

webOS 3.0 to 6.0

Five webOS generations supported, so an estate built over several refresh cycles can usually run one player across all of it.

A published model list

Tested LG model codes per webOS version, so you can check a specific panel before you order rather than after.

Same CMS, same content

Layouts, scheduling, campaigns and data sets are built once and scheduled to LG panels alongside every other platform.

Cloud or self-hosted

Runs against LiveSign's cloud CMS or a CMS entirely on your own infrastructure, with no difference to the panel.

Monitored per screen

Display Admin reports each panel in real time with diagnostic and proof-of-play data, across every property or site.

WHERE IT FITS

When LG webOS is the right choice.

Six platforms means picking one on purpose. Here is when this is the one.

You already buy LG Signage

Estates standardised on LG Signage-series displays get a player with no additional hardware line on the order.

The mount has no room

Screens flush to a wall, recessed into joinery or on a slim bracket, where there is nowhere sensible to put a box.

A long-lived mixed estate

Support back to webOS 3.0 means older panels usually stay in the network instead of forcing an early refresh.

Fewer things to fail

No separate player means no separate power supply, cable or device to fail independently of the screen.

WORTH KNOWING FIRST

LG sells three webOS monitor families and they do not share the same underlying APIs. Only the Signage series running webOS 3.0 or newer is compatible with Live for webOS. Check your exact model code against the compatibility list before ordering, because a webOS panel from the Commercial or Hospitality range will not run this player.

Live for LG webOS: common questions

Do we need a separate media player for LG screens?

No. Live for webOS runs on the system-on-chip inside the LG Signage display itself. The screen needs power and a network connection and nothing else.

Will it run on any LG webOS screen?

No, and this catches people out. LG has three webOS monitor families, Commercial, Hospitality and Signage, with different underlying APIs. Only the Signage series running webOS 3.0 or newer is compatible. Check your model code against the compatibility list before ordering.

Which webOS versions are supported?

webOS 3.0 and 3.2, webOS 4.0 and 4.1 since player release R14, and webOS 6.0 since player release R208. The compatibility list shows tested LG model codes for each.

Does it work with a self-hosted CMS?

Yes. The panel connects to a cloud-hosted Live CMS or one self-hosted on your own infrastructure, over HTTP or HTTPS using TCP/80, TCP/443 and TCP/9505.

Can LG panels drive a video wall?

Not through Live. Video wall output, where one layout spans several physical panels as a single canvas, runs on the Windows and BrightSign players.

Can we mix LG with other players on one network?

Yes, and most estates do. LG webOS panels, Samsung Tizen panels, and Android, Windows, Linux or BrightSign players all run from the same Live CMS on the same schedules.
