Live for Windows, in plain terms.
Live for Windows is the native Windows player for the Live CMS. You install it on a Windows machine attached to a screen, point it at your CMS, and it plays whatever is scheduled to it, cloud-hosted or self-hosted. It was the first player LiveSign built, and it is the one included on every pricing plan.
The reason most Windows deployments pick it is not the operating system, it is the video wall. Windows drives a layout across multiple physical panels as one canvas, which is what a menu board spanning three screens or a lobby wall actually needs, and it scales furthest: the iBASE SI-636 puts six panels on one canvas from a single machine. Live for BrightSign also drives a wall on multi-output hardware, so Windows is the choice when the wall is large or the content is heavy rather than the only option. Android, Linux, Tizen and webOS run one screen per player.
The second reason is operational. If your IT team already builds, images, patches and remote-manages Windows machines, a signage endpoint on Windows is one more managed device rather than a new class of hardware with its own tooling. That is usually what decides it for a corporate, campus or hospital estate.

Live for Windows: common questions
Is this the same thing as LiveView?
No. Live for Windows drives a dedicated screen full time, the same as any other Live player. LiveView is a different product for a different case: an overlay window that shares an employee's own desktop instead of owning a screen, and disappears completely while they are in a call or presenting. Is Live for Windows a real application or a browser in kiosk mode?
A native Windows application. It is installed on the machine and does not depend on a browser being present or up to date.
Which Live player supports video walls?
Windows and BrightSign. Live for Windows outputs a single layout across multiple physical panels and scales furthest, to six panels from one machine on the iBASE SI-636. Live for BrightSign does it on multi-output hardware, using extended mode across one player's outputs or group mode across several synchronised players. Android, Linux, Tizen and webOS run one screen per player.
Does it work with a self-hosted CMS?
Yes. The player connects to a cloud-hosted Live CMS or one self-hosted on your own infrastructure, over HTTP or HTTPS using TCP/80, TCP/443 and TCP/9505.
What happens if the network drops?
Live Players are built to run as independently of the CMS as possible. The player keeps playing its current schedule and picks up changes on its next successful check-in.
Is the Windows player included in the plan price?
Yes. It is included on every LiveSign plan, starting at $12 per display per month. If you would rather own the software outright, perpetual licences are available separately.
What hardware should we run it on?
