Six players, one content management system.
A Live player is the software that runs on the thing attached to your screen, or on the screen itself. You build and schedule content once in Live CMS, and every player picks it up on its next check-in regardless of what it runs on.
Samsung and LG commercial panels run Live on the display itself, with no player box behind the screen. Everything else takes a small Windows, Android, Linux or BrightSign player, which is how an estate built across several refresh cycles gets onto one system without replacing screens that still work.
Linux and BrightSign are the two worth noting. Of the signage vendors reviewed for this site, only a couple support Linux at all, and few build a dedicated native application for BrightSign OS rather than just listing compatibility.

Video wall means one layout spanning several physical panels as a single canvas. Windows drives the largest, up to six panels from one machine. BrightSign does it on multi-output players, across one player's outputs or several players synchronised together.

Digital signage platforms: common questions
How many platforms does LiveSign support?
Six: Windows, Android, Linux, LG webOS, Samsung Tizen and BrightSign. All six run from the same Live CMS, and a single network can mix any combination of them on the same schedules.
Which player should we choose?
If your screens are Samsung or LG commercial panels, use the Tizen or webOS player and skip the extra hardware. If a layout has to span multiple panels as one canvas, use Windows or a multi-output BrightSign player. If cost per screen is the constraint, use Android. If the screen is hard to reach, use BrightSign. If your estate is standardised on Linux, use Linux.
Will LiveSign run on the screens we already own?
Usually, yes. Samsung commercial panels and LG Signage panels run Live on the screen itself. Android SoC displays from Philips, Sony BRAVIA Professional, Vestel, TCL, AG Neovo, ViewSonic and ProDVX run the Android player on the panel. Anything else, including consumer TVs, takes a small player behind the screen. The device compatibility index lists every family under the player that runs it.
Do we have to replace our screens?
No. That is the reason for six players rather than one. Commercial Samsung and LG panels run Live with no extra hardware, and everything else takes a small Android, Windows, Linux or BrightSign player, including ordinary TVs.
Can one network mix different platforms?
Yes, and most do. A mixed estate built up over several refresh cycles is the normal case. Group displays however you like and schedule to them together regardless of what each one runs.
Which players support video walls?
Windows and BrightSign. Windows drives the largest walls, up to six panels on one canvas from a single machine. BrightSign does it on multi-output hardware: extended mode spans one player's own outputs, and group mode synchronises several players for a wall bigger than one player can drive. Android, Linux, Tizen and webOS run one screen per player.
Are all six players included in the plan price?
Yes. Every platform is included on LiveSign plans from $12 per display per month. If you would rather own the software outright, perpetual licences are available separately.
